I loved hearing about your childhood dream and am so amazed by your decision and determination as such a young person. It was very endearing. When I finish a good book, I too, never want it to end and read any scrap front to back to gain any insights into the author or the characters. I love author bios. I loved to write as a child and teen, but I don't know why I never thought of "writer" as a career. I was set on being a teacher because I loved school and thought that was the way to prolong that pleasure. I like how you describe how writing a novel is like getting to read a book but for over a year. Can't wait to read this!
Hi Barbara, like you, as a child I loved books intensely, they were my pathway to drawing my first horses! For me it has always been a balance between art and writing and I was quite miffed to discover that combining the two would limit me to books for children. I've solved that problem with my five books ( so far), three of which are non-fiction but full of info about the history of and life on an island on the BC coast, an adult colouring book with text and artist tips, and chapter heading illustrations for my novel, Murder Rides a Gale Force Wind. Love your books and your inspiration, Yvonne Maximchuk
Happy New Book Day! One of the reasons I look forward to my birthday is you frequently seem to have a book release within a day or two of it. Of course i have Memories of the Lost--I pre-ordered it ages ago.
I had a lot of dreams as a kid (probably good that some of them weren't fulfilled), but one of my favorites was working on the air in radio, which I did for about seven years. Never had a job I enjoyed more.
Happy New Book Day! I just got my copy!

So happy to connect with you here, Rosemary. I’m glad we share the joy in books and writing!
Congratulations and I'm excited to read it!

Those sound like a wonderful projects!
Congratulations, Barbara. You were right: Why would you do anything else?
Can't wait to read it.
Just finished the ARC two days ago and the book is wonderful! So many things to love - characters, settings, chocolate, mystery. Highly recommended.
Sue, I’m so happy to hear you loved it. Yes, the chocolate part was so much fun!

Radio is so much fun. It's one of my favorite mediums (and thus I also love podcasts). I'm so happy to be able to help you celebrate your birthday!
