Beautiful. I hate to think what our water bill would be like after spending such glorious time in a shower like that.
I've got 30 books under my belt, and I'm never prepared for what happens at the 30K mark. You'd think I'd have learned to buckle down and get past it instead of despairing that it'll never work.
I love this, even though I had to sit with it for a moment to really take it in.
It’s such a beautiful thought — preparing the nest before the “belly of the book” season begins. I often wish I could prepare like that, but most of the time I just feel like I’m trying to keep up.
When things get chaotic, I usually start cleaning and tidying — it’s my way of bringing some order to the mess in my head.
Not quite the same as planting a magical shower garden… but hey, it helps! 😉
Thanks for this glimpse into your process — it made me smile and think.
Thanks for sharing your lovely home--and that view! I'm a nester by nature, too, but I find when I have a difficult undertaking ahead, writing or otherwise, I focus my energy on self-care. Time spent outdoors and prioritizing rest, meditation, and family ground me so I can face that hard thing without getting quite so lost in it. Best of luck on your book!
The chandelier is beautiful, and the light it gives is so warm. Interesting that the doors in your old home were blue, and when you look past the new chandelier, you see the blue of the ocean and sky. Well worth repeating. The shower plants are nice, too. Thanks for sharing!
These days, I prepare for medical situations that will involve any disability for a period of time. I do everything I can to have things in order and clean, with food stocked up that is easy to heat/prepare--and so forth.
A small procedure ten days ago required a lot of prep because I am not allowed to bend over for four weeks(!), which affected nearly my entire life. Always ask ahead of time what your "forbidden body movements" will be for any planned medical situation. Voice of experience!
I love the sun tubes in your shower. What a novel idea. I'm not a nester before I start a book. I tend to wander around halfway through and decide I need to weed through my closet. Or maybe my bookshelves. Anything that will keep me busy while I figure out why I'm not making substantial progress on the WIP.
Nesting is definitely in my DNA. Right now, I’ve been getting my container garden into spring shape, trimming plants and reviving soil and adding a few new sprigs. I planted six new strawberry plants, all Quinalt as that type has done the best in years past. And I cleaned up the birdbath, which was quickly occupied by a lil junco for afternoon splashes. It all gives me smiles. Next up is my office/bedroom. All I can say about that is: Yikes! 😂

Ha, I’m right there with you at 28k.

I like cleaning and tidying in chaos, too. It helps, right?
So gorgeous and tranquil! What a great idea to shore up your space in a loving way before the long haul. Thank you for sharing.

I do a lot of wandering, too.
What a lovely home, or nest, you’ve created. That “baby” is going to thrive! Can’t wait to read it.

i love this. and i love to nest.
I especially like the dog almost hidden behind the table. Beautiful home and view. Calming indeed.
That’s Peaches, hoping she can go outside and bark at everyone, leaves, deer, birds….
Oh my gosh. The chandelier is gorgeous. And I love your shower! Good luck writing the book.
